Clover Press Award Nominations

This year brought Clover Press its very first Eisner Award nomination! The Marvel Art of Michael Allred Slipcase Edition, designed by our own Kurtis Findlay, was nominated for Best Publication Design. While we didn’t take home the award at the Eisners, we’re incredibly proud of Kurtis and grateful to have the book recognized.

Last week, we received more exciting news: Gamemasters: The Comic Book History of Roleplaying Games earned Clover Press its first Ringo Award nomination for Best Original Graphic Novel!

 Created by Fred Van Lente, Tom Fowler, and Bill Crabtree, Gamemasters takes readers through the history of tabletop roleplaying games, from their earliest influences to the worldwide phenomenon they are today.

 Congratulations to Fred, Tom, and Bill! Comics professionals can cast their votes at Ringoawards.com through August 26.

Three Upcoming Projects from Top Comic Creators

A few weeks ago, we pre-launched three upcoming projects featuring some of the best talent in comics.

First is I Love Apocalyptic Zombie Misfits!, an original graphic novel from Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard, the creative team behind Plastic, Plush, Vinyl, and I Was a Fashion School Serial Killer. The story follows a nerdy pacifist who is resurrected inside the body of a supernatural slasher and forced to protect a psychic child from the forces of Heaven, Hell, and everything in between. There are also Murder Chickens!

Next is a deluxe hardcover edition of the critically acclaimed Bear Pirate Viking Queen by writer Sean Lewis and artist Jonathan Marks Barravecchia. Told through striking watercolor artwork, this blood-soaked tale of bears, pirates, Vikings, and queens follows an epic battle to decide what the world will become. This will be the first time the series has been collected in hardcover.

Finally, 30 Days of Night creator Steve Niles brings his detective Cal McDonald back into prose with Cal McDonald: Plague of Evil and Other Stories. This new short story collection sends paranormal detective Cal McDonald through a Los Angeles filled with monsters, ghouls, freaks, and all kinds of supernatural trouble.

 The collection features a cover painting by Joe Jusko, along with illustrations by Alison Sampson, Cat Staggs, Gyula Nemeth, Damien Worm, Francesco Francavilla, Chris Mitten, Scott Morse, Liam Sharp, and Steven Russell Black. It also includes a foreword by David Dastmalchian.

REMINISCENT: ART OF ZERONIS

Art-book fans can also sign up for Reminiscent: Art of Zeronis, a 152-page deluxe hardcover celebrating the work of acclaimed video game character and concept artist Paul “Zeronis” Kwon. 

The collection spans his career and includes character concepts, original designs, portraits, fan art, personal illustrations, and previously unseen work. Zeronis is known for helping design popular League of Legends champions such as Ahri, Vi, and Gwen, along with his contributions to Star Guardian and K/DA.

 TILL DEATH Late Pledges Are Open

The Kickstarter campaign for our upcoming graphic novel Till Death came to an end, and it was a huge success! We’re already hard at work designing the final book so we can get it into your hands as soon as possible.

 For anyone who missed the campaign or still wants to pick up one of the exclusives, late pledges are now open. Be sure to grab what you want before it closes! The acetate slipcase edition will only be offered through the campaign, aside from a very small number that will be available on our website.

Marvel Masterworks Are Back!

Lastly, you’ve probably already heard one of the biggest Clover Press announcements to come out of San Diego Comic-Con: we are the new publisher of the popular Marvel Masterworks series!
